More Information

On June 1, 2026, ABS Canada’s Prof. Chidi Oguamanam will give a talk at the webinar, “Indigenous Legal Orders, Legal Pluralism, and the Coloniality of Method in Global Governance,” organized by American Branch of the International Law Association (ABILA). The webinar’s central question is, how do we rethink legal methods themselves in a plural and post-colonial global order?

The webinar will feature speakers whose work spans cultural heritage, intellectual property, Indigenous knowledge systems, and global governance. The line-up includes Elena Baylis (University of Pittsburgh School of Law), Sergio Alberto Gramitto Ricci (Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University), Dana G. Jones (North Carolina Central University School of Law), Srividhya Ragavan (Texas A&M University School of Law), and Chidi Oguamanam (University of Ottawa Faculty of Law). It is organized by Paolo Davide Farah, Chair of one of the Committees within ABILA.

We hope that you can join the event and participate in ongoing discussions about Indigenous legal orders in our current global landscape.
