On Thursday, July 16th, 2026, the United Nations Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples will host an event, “Realizing the WIPO Treaty on Intellectual Property, Genetic Resources & Associated Traditional Knowledge.” 

The speakers include Mark Macarro, President of the National Congress of American Indians; Guilherme de Aguiar Patriota, Brazilian ambassador; and Jennifer Tauli Corpuz, Member of the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues.

The commentators are Sheryl Lightfoot, Member of the UN Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, and Heidi Todacheene, Principal of IndiNational Strategies.

The event will be moderated by TIP Co-Directors, Kristen Carpenter and Sue Noe.
